Research Interests and Honors
During his overseas study, Prof. Wu was dedicated to the research of cell cycle and DNA replication initial control mechanism. Prof. Wu’s Lab has concentrated on the structure and function of molecular networks for cell fate determination among cell differentiation, cell proliferation and apoptosis, also applying this strategy on the mechanism of the complex diseases such as cancer and diabetes. Prof. Wu's ongoing project is to identify biomarkers in order to detect the progress stages of the diabetes. His team has developed systematic approaches based on proteomics and bioinformatics to analyze human normal and diabetic serum. In addition, Prof. Wu is leading the team to analyze the genetic and environmental factors and their interactions during the progressing of the type 2 diabetes with systems-biology approaches. He had the experience of leading Major Projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China and Ministry of Science and Technology 973 Project, and has published more than 80 SCI papers. In 1998, he was awarded the National Excellent Youth Foundation, and was selected into the Hundred Talents Project of CAS; in 2009, Prof. Wu was enlisted in the Leading Talents of Shanghai.
