Certificate Award Ceremony and Seminar for International Visiting Scholars Held at SARI
On July 28, the Certificate Award Ceremony and Seminar for visiting scholars under the CAS President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) was held at the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereafter referred to as SARI). Prof. Deng Haixiao, President of SARI, attended the event and presented certificates to two PIFI program scholars Italian expert Carlo Clini and young researcher Rebecca Sternke-Hoffmann from the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland.
Deng Haixiao extended a warm welcome and congratulations to the two scholars in his opening remarks. He noted that SARI has maintained long-standing close ties with Italian institutions and jointly established the China-Italy Interdisciplinary Research Center. Fruitful collaborations covering personnel exchanges and joint research projects have also been carried out between SARI and the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) of Switzerland. Adhering to the philosophy of openness and collaboration, SARI attaches great importance to international scientific and technological exchanges. He expressed the hope that the two scholars would deepen cooperation during their visits and deliver more high-level research outcomes.
Carlo Clini and Rebecca Sternke-Hoffmann delivered lectures titled Linking Excellent Science through International Collaboration and Decoding α-Synuclein Dynamics at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility respectively, sharing their progress in interdisciplinary research leveraging the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. Participants held in-depth discussions on innovation cooperation as well as relevant specific technologies between China and Europe.
