A new study by Chinese scientists, released on May 29 in Shanghai, has called for the use of consumption-based accounting (“CBA”) emissions in calculating global carbon emissions in order to help make allocating responsibility for reducing emissions just and fair.

Prof. Alessandro Sepe, Chief Scientist of the Big Data Science Center (BDSC) at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF), was awarded this award for his outstanding contributions supporting the construction of major national science and technology infrastructures, promoting Shanghai's urban economy and social development, and promoting foreign exchanges and cooperation.

On September 15th 2021, Professor Kenji Hosoyama, Visiting Research Professor of SARI, was awarded the 2021 Magnolia Silver Award in recognition of his positive contributions to Shanghai’s economic and social development.

The 16th International Conference on Embedded Wireless Systems and Networks, EWSN 2019, was held in Beijing. Prof. Dr. Jianming Wei’s group, the Safety and Emergency Laboratory from the Intelligence Information Communication Technology Research and Development Center, SARI, took part in the EWSN 2019 Dependability Competition and won the first place in “Data Collection” Category with their DeCoT+.

The 18th Conference of the Science Council of Asia was successfully held from December 5-7,in Tokyo, Japan. During the event, Mr. Wang Xi, Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vice President of China Association for Science and Technology, officially assumed office as the President of Science Council of Asia for a two-year term starting from December 2018.
