Foundation-laying Ceremony of Ningde’s Industrialization Base Held

On December 8th 2010, the foundation stone laying ceremony of Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI) of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai National Technology Transfer Center (NTTC) of Chinese Academy of Sciences Industrialization Demonstration Base of NingDe was held in NingDe. This ceremony is also an important part of the 10th anniversary ceremony of Ningde's promoting-district-to-city plan. The ceremony was hosted by Mr. LIAO Xiaojun, Mayor of NingDe City. Those attended included Prof. JIANG Mianheng, Vice President of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. HUA Renchang, member of party committee for Shanghai Municipal people's congress and director of NTTC, Prof. ZHU Zhiyuan, executive deputy Vice President of CAS Shanghai Branch and Prof. ZHANG Xu, Vice President of CAS Shanghai Branch, Prof. HONG Maochun, Director of Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, Prof. FENG Songlin, Director of SARI, Prof. JIANG Biao, Vice Director of SARI, Prof. SUN Yuhan, Vice Director of SARI, Mr. HONG Jiexu, Vice Governor of Fujian Province, Mr. CHEN Rongkai, Secretary General of NingDe Municipal Government.
Covering an area of 3000 mu, the industrialization demonstration base of Ningde is a grand project integrating knowledge cluster program, urban regional plan and production-study-research program. This base will take advantage of the resources and talents from CAS as well as the great opportunity of Hercynian development on the basis of NingDe's own need of Industrial cluster development. It will establish several application technology development platforms for new energy, electrical machine and shipbuilding, new materials, bionic drugs and new nuclear with the aim of exploring a new development mode which will let science and technology lead industrial development and emphasize the industrialization of scientific achievements to promote the upgrade of local industrial cluster.
Prof. JIANG Mianheng pointed out that Chinese Academy of Sciences will strongly support the construction of the base by its resources in an effort to build the base into an open platform for the development of hi-tech industry featuring "low-carbon, green and intelligent". The base is designed to be not only an industrial demonstration park, but also a demonstration park for the integration of urban and rural areas.
The founding of NingDe industrial demonstration base marked the official launch of cooperation between SARI and NingDe City. CAS will make scientific plan according to NingDe's specific condition to integrate all resources and promote an efficient mechanism for economic development, which will play a vital role in demonstrating the reform of urbanization.
