Address from the President

Located at CAS Pudong Science and Technology Park, Shanghai Advanced Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences (SARI) is a young research institute jointly established by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Shanghai Municipal government in 2012.

On March 11th 2017, CAS and Shanghai Municipality signed the Supplementary Agreement on Deepening Cooperation to Jointly Build Shanghai into a Global Science and Technology Innovation Center with Global Influence. In October 2018, SARI became the supporting institution of Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility and National Facility for Protein Science Shanghai for integrating management.

After reform and integration, SARI-CAS now focuses on the development, construction and operation of large scale scientific facilities of advanced light source, and conducts innovative research and core technology R&D in the fields of accelerator science, photon science, energy science and information science. We are working on the construction of an interdisciplinary, comprehensive and multi-functional platform for large scientific research.

Looking forward, SARI is seeking reform, innovation and development to prioritize research fields and optimize R&D layout, striving to become a new type of scientific research institution with multiple function, rich human resources and advanced research facilities, to play an irreplaceable role in the construction of scientific and technological innovation center with global influence in Shanghai.
