Member of CAS and Vice President of CAST Wang Xi Assumes Presidency of Science Council of Asia

The 18th Conference of the Science Council of Asia was successfully held from December 5-7,in Tokyo, Japan. During the event, Mr. Wang Xi, Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vice President of China Association for Science and Technology, officially assumed office as the President of Science Council of Asia for a two-year term starting from December 2018.

The Science Council of Asia(SCA) is an international scientific organization founded in 2000. SCA aims to provide scientists in all fields, including cultural and social as well as natural sciences and technology, a collaborative platform for promoting scientific exchange and cooperation in Asia, and to develop and promote a holistic vision focusing on sustainable development and improvement in quality of life. China is a founding member of the SCA and will hold the 20th Conference of the Science Council of Asia.

With Academician Wang Xi assuming the presidency of SCA, China will play an important role and contribute Chinese wisdom to and in collaboration for global science and technology governance, utilizing international innovation resources for promoting The Belt and Road science and technology cooperation and advancing the balanced development of world science.
