Dear colleagues and friends, 

As we welcome the Year of the Horse, a symbol of vitality, perseverance, and progress, on behalf of the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) , I would like to extend our warmest greetings and best wishes to all our friends from home and abroad. Together, let us stride into a new year with renewed hope and determination.

Over the past year, SARI has remained steadfast in our mission of advancing innovation, fostering a dynamic ecosystem, and expanding global networks for a sustainable and better future.

Looking ahead, we have embarked on our "15^th Five-Year Plan," aiming to build a comprehensive and robust development ecosystem for pursuing excellence and resilient partnerships.

Our primary research directions continue to be centered on accelerator physics and technology, photon science and technology, the low-carbon synthesis of high-end chemicals driven by renewable energy and IT technologies. These areas represent the frontier of scientific innovation and align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

In our commitment to global engagement, SARI has made significant strides in building an international research environment. We were approved as an International Cooperation Pilot CAS institute for better open and sharing of our mega science facilities and inspiring interdisciplinary innovation. The CAS Innovation Cooperation Center (Bangkok) managed by SARI has made great progress and hosted winter school and seminars to promote exchange and cooperation. The establishment of the China-Italy Interdisciplinary Center, witnessed by both Ministers for science and technology during the 14^th China-Italy Innovation Week, further expands our landscape of high-level international scientific collaboration. By innovating mechanisms for international cooperation, staff and students exchange exemplified by the presence of international students at SARI, we are dedicated to creating an open and innovative environment with global excellence.

As we gallop into the Year of the Horse, let us embrace the spirit of endurance and vision it signifies.
