Exchange & Visit
US Academician Prof. HE Wenshou visited SARI
date:
2010-12-27
On December 24 2010, W.S. Winston Ho, Academician of National Academy of Sciences of United States and Professor of Ohio State University, Chemical Engineering Department, paid a visit to SARI in Pudong Science and Technology Park and addressed on the topic of "Recent Advances in Membranes for Water Purification".
Prof. HE Tao, Head of Membrane Materials and Separation Engineering Technology Lab, Sustainable Technology Research Center, hosted the meeting. Prof.HE Wenshou introduced the feasibility and application of Membrane Materials vividly by two aspects: removal & recovery of metals from waste water by supported liquid membranes, and water purification by interfacially polymerized reverse osmosis membranes. He also provided examples to illustrate his research application.
Prof. HE Wenshou used plenty of charts and data in his report which aroused the interest of people present. After the report, researchers exchanged ideas with Prof. HE in terms of how to use membrane materials to recover the valuable materials in metallurgy industry wastewater, the stability of liquid membrane technology, etc.
Prof. HE Wenshou has thirty years' experience of studying membrane separation technology. His major research areas are: membrane separation, fuel cell membrane, water purification, separation accompanied chemical reaction, membrane transfer phenomenon, etc. He was elected Academician of National Academy of Sciences, United States in 2002.
