On Dec.29, 2011, Prof. HU Qiang, expert of microalgae from Arizona State University( ASU) visited SARI. Prof. SHI Jiping from Biological Refinery Lab of Sustainable Technology Center, and his microalgae research team received Prof. HU and held in-depth discussion about the topics of the application of energy microalgae, key technology bottleneck of scale culture, administrative support and technology development in China and U.S. Prof. HU thought highly of SARI’s construction platform and research development of the microalgae application in energy area.

Prof. HU Qiang, whose microalgae research was awarded one of the fifty most influential inventions in 2008 by Times, has over 20 years’ expertise in algae research, with nearly 50 publications embodied by world-renowned magazines such as PNAS and over 20 patents acquired or under application.
