April 1 2014, A Shell delegation visited Shanghai Advanced Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Vice President of SARI Professor Sun Yuhan received the delegation and discussed with them on related joint projects. Shell Associate General Counsel IP Reini van Leeuwen-Torenstra and Senior Legal Counsel Rick Taylor presented a keynote lecture on Innovation and IP protection. SARI’s international cooperation projects leaders and the faculty and students from ShanghaiTech joined the event. Professor Sun Yuhan welcomed the experts and made closing remarks.

    Rick Taylor explore the IP application and protection issued within the context of Chinese law, and made in-depth analysis on the concepts of copy rights, ownership and business secrets. During the Q&A session, Reini van Leeuwen-Torenstra responded the IP generated during collaboration, and Shell’s IP management best practices.

   At the end of the lecture, Professor Sun thanked the Shell experts for the excellent presentation, and hoped that the young researchers could improve the knowledge of laws and regulations, getting well prepared for the future international collaboration efforts.
