Sino-German Forum on Green Feedstock and Functionalized Materials was held at SARI from October 10th to 12th 2016. This workshop was hosted by Sun Yuhan, Vice President of SARI. Mr. Fu Xiangsheng, Vice Chairman of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and Prof. Ralf B. Wehrspohn, Director of Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWS made opening speeches. Fu Xiangsheng emphasized: International S&T cooperation is playing a more and more important role. Green feedstock and functionalized materials is a key area of China’s future development, so it has great potential in China. Prof. Ralf B. Wehrspohn hoped this workshop would help scientists and representatives from the industry understand each other better and find cooperation possibilities.
This workshop focused on green feedstock and functionalized materials. Prof. He Ming, Director of Shanghai Key Laboratory for Green Chemistry and Chemical Processes and Prof. Ding Kuiling, Director of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, CAS made keynote speeches on Chemistry and Energy Sustainability and Atom-economy Transformation of CO2 respectively. Scientists from Fraunhofer IWMS, SARI, ShanghaiTech University and Lu’an Group introduced their work on electrocatalysts, biorefinery processes, chemical utilizations of CO2 and lignite feedstock and had heated discussion with attendees on topics of mutual interest.
The workshop is initiated by Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWS, Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI) and China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF). Over fifty representatives from industry partners BASF, Clariant, Covestro, China National Petroleum Corporation, Huayi Group, Wison, YangMei Chemical, Shandong Yuhuang Chemical Group, Shandong Jining Development Zone, etc. attended the workshop.
