    JIANG Mianheng Inspected SARI’s Lab Construction

    On October.28, Prof. JIANG Mianheng, Vice President of Chinese Academy of Sciences, inspected the construction site of SARI’s labs.


    　　On October.28, Prof. JIANG Mianheng, Vice President of Chinese Academy of Sciences, inspected the construction site of SARI’s labs, under the company of Prof. SUN Yuhan, Vice President of SARI and other staff from construction headquarters of CAS Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Park, CAS and Shanghai No.7 Construction Co., Ltd. 
    　　Prof. JIANG visited lab of Centre for New Display Technology, lab of Centre for Micro-Nano Devices Research, Small Satellite workshop Assembly Shop and the molecular building under construction, and had offered a cordial greeting to the laboratory researchers and construction site staff. Prof. JIANG Mianheng thought highly of the construction progress and held great expectation for future work.
    　　Then, Prof. JIANG visited electric vehicle demonstration site in the Park and expressed earnest hope that SARI could achieve more in building a low-carbon, green and smart demonstration park.

    Strategic Collaboration Agreement Signed between SARI and CSST

    On October 29, 2011, the Strategic Collaboration Agreement between SARI and China Security & Surveillance Technology, Inc. (CSST) was signed in Shenzhen by Prof. FENG Songlin, President of SARI and Mr. TU Guoshen, PresidentChairman of the Board of CSST.


    　　On October .29, 2011, the Strategic Collaboration Agreement between Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI) of Chinese Academy of Sciences and China Security & Surveillance Technology, Inc. (CSST) was signed in Shenzhen by Prof. FENG Songlin, President of SARI and Mr. TU Guoshen, PresidentChairman of the Board of CSST.
    　　Prof. FENG and Mr. TU addressed at the Signing Ceremony and both appreciated the collaboration in building smart cities and future prospects. The Ttwo parties visited CSST Industrial Park after the Ceremony.
    　　Prof. SUN Yuhan, Vice President of SARI, Mr. QIAN Wenguo, Director of Academy-Locality Department and Prof. CHEN Xiaodong, Director of Science and Technology Department of SARI, and counterparts from CSST also attended the ceremony.

    ESSEC from France Visit SARI

    On Oct.21st, a delegation from Institute of Economic and Commercial Sciences(ESSEC) visited SARI. Prof. FENG Songlin, President of SARI received the delegation. Representatives from China Mobile attended the conference.

    　　Prof. FENG extended warm welcome to the delegation and introduced SARI’s overall situation, development plan and major partnership. Mr. Philippe Dornier, Academic Director of ESSEC appreciated SARI’s hospitality and gave a brief introduction of ESSEC Business School and its aim of this visit, followed by a speech of Representatives from China Mobile about the status quo of China Communications Industry and China Mobile’s development pattern.
    　　Then, attendees held a heated discussion in terms of the development of Chinese technology such as life science, communications technology and the possibilities of future collaboration in fields of common interest.
    　　Established in 1907, ESSEC is one of the top 3 management schools worldwide and was listed the No.1 management school of France in 2008. ESSEC Ventures is the structure for Groupe ESSEC entrepreneurs.     SARI and Drexel Announce Research Collaboration to Establish Joint Center

    Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Drexel University today signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Collaboration Agreement to jointly establish the Drexel-SARI Center on Oct.19, 2011.

    Shanghai, October 19, 2011 - Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Drexel University today signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Collaboration Agreement to jointly establish the Drexel-SARI Center. Dr. JIANG Mianheng, Vice President of CAS and President of CAS Shanghai Branch and John A. Fry, President of Drexel University, jointly unveiled the plate of the center. Dr. ZHU Zhiyuan, Executive Vice President of CAS Shanghai Branch, Dr. FENG Songlin, President of SARI, and Dr. JIANG Biao, Vice President of SARI and relevant researchers joined the signing ceremony.
    　　Dr. JIANG Mianheng delivered a speech and remarked that the collaboration between SARI and Drexel has a clear objective and road map featured with lots of practical substances to be accomplished, and that the Drexel-SARI partnership forges the conditions that will result in solutions to today's global challenges. Based on cooperation, innovation and hard work, SARI and Drexel will contribute importantly to society.
    　　John A. Fry mentioned in his speech that Drexel is proud to launch this collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and by working together the two institutions can expand opportunities for groundbreaking research, outstanding education and the translation of new technologies to commercial applications.
    　　After the signing ceremony, the Drexel delegation visited the innovative pharmaceuticals facility of CAS Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Park accompanied by Dr. ZHU Zhiyuan, followed by further discussion regarding the development plan of the joint center.
    　　The Drexel-SARI Center is dedicated to joining Drexel University's research and educational excellence with SARI's pioneering work in technology innovation. The Center will provide a framework for collaboration on cutting-edge interdisciplinary research as well as a space for integrating research, education, training and entrepreneurship in line with the common missions of Drexel and SARI.

Prof. JIANG then conducted in-depth discussion with relevant researchers and provided specific guidance on certain projects.

    SARI Exhibits in 2011 Shanghai Jiading Technology Expo

    The 2011 Shanghai Jiading Technology Expo was held at Shanghai Automobile Exhibition Center from August 25 to 26, 2011. Almost one hundred research institutes and enterprises showcased their high-tech achievements as well as released R & D needs to seek further integration of industry, education and research.

Almost one hundred research institutes and enterprises showcased their high-tech achievements as well as released R & D needs to seek further integration of industry, education and research.
    　　Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI) exhibited several latest hi-tech achievements such as high definition image processor, research on CMOS image sensor chip with low illumination and wide dynamic range and its industrialization, WiFi RFIC integrated module based on InGaP/GaAs HBT, energy-efficient and hydrophilic hollow fiber membrane, forward proactive safety pre-warning system based on CIS Automobile, intelligent parking management system of Internet of things, safety monitoring internet of things(not used in coal mine), etc. Dr. ZHANG Xu, Vice President of CAS Shanghai Branch, attended the Expo and thought highly of SARI’s exhibits. Through this event, SARI well demonstrated its achievements and extended its influence, which will help strengthen the cooperation with local hi-tech enterprises.
    　　The Expo is jointly organized by the people's government of the Jiading district, CAS Shanghai Branch, Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Committee, etc.
