    SARI Participated in the 14th China Hi-Tech Fair

    From November 16th to 21st, the 14th China Hi-Tech Fair was held in Shenzhen, China.With the theme of advancing science and technology innovation and improving development quality, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) set up the "Sensing China" CAS technology and products special booth.


    　　From November 16th to 21st, the 14th China Hi-Tech Fair was held in Shenzhen, China. Lu Yongxiang, Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of the NPC announced the opening of the 14th China Hi-Tech Fair. Minister Wan Gang of Ministry of Science and Technology attended the opening ceremony. 
    　　With the theme of advancing science and technology innovation and improving development quality, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) set up the “Sensing China” CAS technology and products special booth, with the main content of “Internet of Things” and the theme of “supporting and serving national strategic emerging industry development with collaborative innovation”. The booth is located at No. 5 exhibition hall, with three pieces of exhibition including innovation area, industry application area and technology and products area, CAS showcased the research progress and achievements in the past 10 years in internet of things initiatives, and the research and industrialization accomplishment of Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology in areas of new energy and new materials, robotics, low-cost health and medical engineering, cloud computing and smart city, and biomedical research. 
    　　During the exhibition, CAS Vice President Shi Erwei, Director of Bureau of Academy-Locality Cooperation Sun Dianyi, Vice Director of Bureau of High-Tech Research and Development Dai Bowei, leaders from CAS Guangzhou Branch and the Development Center, visited SARI’s exhibition area, and experienced the smart home control system demonstration project by High Performance Data and Processing Center.

    New Generation (Energy) Chemical Industry Technology Innovation Strategy Alliance Delegation Visited SARI

    The New Generation (Energy) Chemical Industry Technology Innovation Strategy Alliance Delegation, led by Chief Engineer WANG Shoujian of China National Chemical Engineering Co., LTD (CNCEC), paid a visit to Shanghai Advanced Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences (SARI-CAS).


    　　October 30, 2012 -The New Generation (Energy) Chemical Industry Technology Innovation Strategy Alliance Delegation, led by Chief Engineer WANG Shoujian of China National Chemical Engineering Co., LTD (CNCEC), paid a visit to Shanghai Advanced Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences (SARI-CAS). Dr. JIANG Biao and Dr. SUN Yuhan, Vice Presidents of SARI-CAS, received the delegation and held a meeting with the visitors. Representatives from Science and Technology Department and relevant research centers attended the meeting.  
    　　Dr. SUN Yuhan expressed his warm welcome to the "Alliance" Delegation. Vice Director of Science and Technology Department Dr. MENG Yan introduced SARI-CAS's development status in Energy and Environment sector. Dr. JIANG Biao and other representatives introduced some research projects, including "Green Synthesis of PVC by Using Mercury-free Catalysts", "Catalytic Thermal Synthesis of Calcium Carbide/Coal Gasification Integrated Gas Producer", "Comprehensive Utilization of CO2"," Thermal Chemical Conversion Technology for Carbon Contained Resources" , "Methanol Conversion Technology Research Progress", "Hydrophilic Hollow Fiber Membranes", and "Biological Preparation for Chemicals". The Alliance Delegation visited Low Carbon Conversion Science and Engineering Center and Sustainable Development Technology Center, hoping to deepen the exchange and cooperation through the Alliance's Industry-Education-Research Platform, expecting fruitful results out of the cooperation during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period.
    　　Under the joint efforts of Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education, Sate-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, All-China Federation of Labor, and China Development Bank, the New Generation (Energy) Chemical Industry Technology Innovation Strategy Alliance was jointly established by CNCEC, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, Dalian University of Technology, East China University of Science and Technology, Institute of Coal Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences, SARI-CAS, China National Petroleum & Chemical Planning Institute, etc. Under the goal of implementing independent innovation strategy and building an innovative nation outlined by the Central Government, the Alliance aims to establish a technology innovation system that is market oriented, with the integration of Industry-Education-Research and with enterprises as the main body.

    On May 21 2012, Prof. DING Zhongli, Vice President of Chinese Academy of Sciences, inspected Shanghai Advanced Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SARI-CAS). Prof. DING held a meeting with researchers and visited research laboratories of SARI-CAS.

Prof. DING paid special attention to the City Household Waste Treatment Demo Project, Low Carbon Energy Technology Solution, Dioxin Ultratrace Analysis Lab construction, and encouraged SARI to make full use of efficient resources, contributing to the development of local economy.

    Shanghai Jiao Tong University and SARI Signed Strategic Collaboration Agreement

    On March 2, 2012, the strategic collaboration agreement signing ceremony between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI) of Chinese Academy of Sciences, was held in Minhang Campus of Jiao Tong University.


    　　On March 2, 2012, the strategic collaboration agreement signing ceremony between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI) of Chinese Academy of Sciences, was held in Minhang Campus of Jiao Tong University. Mr. Zhang Jie, President of Jiao Tong University, and Mr. Feng Songlin, President of SARI, signed the agreement on behalf of the two parties. Ms. Yuan Wen, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Mr. Ming Ju, Infrastructure Department of Science and Technology Division of Ministry of Education, Mr. Lin Zhongqin, Executive Vice President of Jiao Tong University, Mr. Huang Zhen, Vice President of Jiao Tong University, and leaders from Department of Science and Technology, Department of International Cooperation and General Office of SARI attended the signing ceremony. 
    　　Mr. Zhang Jie and Mr. Feng Songlin addressed during the ceremony, saying that the signing of this strategic collaboration agreement is an important measure for following the guideline of national education and science and technology plan between Universities and Institutes, and for improving independent innovation capability. It is agreed that both sides would launch overall cooperation in five research areas, namely, physics, energy, information, life science and management, building a long-term collaboration mechanism, and advancing the effective exploration of “collaborative innovation”.

    Progress for coherent Quantum Noise on the time-resolved experiments

    In cooperation with Max-Planck-Institut for Nuclear Physics (MPIK), Heidelberg, Germany, Prof. JIANG Yuhai, SARI’s talented researcher of the "One Hundred Talents Program" of Chinese Academy of Sciences, found that time-resolution of the pump-probe experiment can be significantly enhanced by coherence of quantum optical noise in laser pulses.

    With the development of laser technology, the pump-probe approach has become the most popular experimental method for studies of the time-evolution of basic quantum principle.
    　　In cooperation with Max-Planck-Institut for Nuclear Physics (MPIK), Heidelberg, Germany, Prof. JIANG Yuhai, SARI’s talented researcher of the "One Hundred Talents Program" of Chinese Academy of Sciences, found that time-resolution of the pump-probe experiment can be significantly enhanced by coherence of quantum optical noise in laser pulses.
    　　Results have been published in the world-leading journal of Physical Review Letters (108, 098302 (2012)), showing the important application of noisy optical pulses in the enhancement of the temporal resolution for the pump-probe measurements.

    On Feburary 20, 2012, Professor Sun Yuhan, Vice President of Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Professor Wei Wei, Director Assistant of Institute of Coal Chemistry, CAS, paid a visit to Shenhua Group.


    　　On Feburary 20, 2012, Professor Sun Yuhan, Vice President of Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Professor Wei Wei, Director Assistant of Institute of Coal Chemistry, CAS, paid a visit to Shenhua Group, and was warmly received by Dr. Zhang Yuzhuo, Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Shenhua Group, and Dr. Wu Xiuzhang, Chief Engineer of Shenhua Group and Chairman of Shenhua Coal to Liquid and Chemical Company Ltd. A meeting was held and consensus was reached regarding the “three plus one” collaboration directions and the collaboration model. It is agreed that every party will focus on its own advantages, by leveraging the platform of SARI and the long strategic partnership between Shenhua and CAS, the Parties will jointly establish an open R&D platform and apply national major projects together.
    　　Shenhua Group, as a state-owned enterprise (“SOE”) established upon approval by the State Council in October 1995, is a key SOE under direct supervision by the central government. It is a large coal-based integrated energy enterprise with businesses of coal, power generation, railway transport, port, shipping, coal liquefaction and chemicals, and runs a complete supply chain covering production, transportation and trade. It is also the largest and most modernized coal company in China and the largest coal supplier in the world, ranked among the World’s Top 500. Its main business scope includes running of state-owned assets authorized by the State Council; development of resources products (such as coal); investment and management in such sectors as electric power generation, thermal power generation, port, railway transport, shipping, coal-toliquids and coal-to-chemicals; and planning, organization, coordination and management of production and operation of the subsidiaries of the Shenhua Group in the above-mentioned sectors.
